The Lennox and Addington OPP has charged a driver with impaired driving.
On June 8, just after 10:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a golf cart and heavy machinery being driven in the area of Main Street in Deseronto. Officers attended the area and observed an excavator being operated in a field near First Street, with a golf cart parked nearby.
Officers spoke with the driver who was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.
As a result, Andrew Maracle, age 20, of Deseronto, Ontario, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on June 25, 2024.
