Napanee’s historic Macpherson House will kickoff the summer season with a ‘sundae’ of events on July 4, running from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Dubbed the Carnival Countdown, the family friendly fun starts with all day house tours with master weaver Susi Reinink on the loom beginning at 1 p.m. Add an interactive Ollin drum circle. Top this sundae off with a little bit of everything: live music with Steve Tanner, vintage carnival games, and a lively line dancing class with Tricia Cammaart. So what is the cherry on top of this awesome event sundae? Real Marble Slab Creamery ice cream sundaes; several flavour choices with a variety of toppings. These sundaes will be available from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. for $6 each. Guests can stop in for just one part of this great day or enjoy all the events.

Leading the drum circle will be Yessica Rivera Belsham who facilitates an inclusive and interactive gathering with a focus on diversity and inclusivity. She brings her traditional drum as well as a wide range of other drums, shakers, dance ribbons and more for an interactive educational and wellness engagement with drumming and singing from across around the world. Through drumming, singing, dancing, creative arts, and more, Ollin.ca is part of a community which embraces connection with Mother Earth and celebration of life, diversity, and unity.

Wrapping up the event will be some line dancing led by Cammaart.

This energetic and fun filled class is perfect for all levels.  Cammaart will guide participants through some popular line dances like Shivers by Ed Sheeran and Good Time by Alan Jackson.

The event is free but guests are encouraged to bring their own seating. All ages welcome though children 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

The Carnival Countdown marks the beginning of a summer full of programming at the house, For a full list of dates visit https://countymuseum.ca/exhibit/macpherson-house-park/.
