One person confirmed deceased from fire in Picton unit owned by L&A County Housing Corporation

Prince Edward-Lennox and Addington Social Services (PELASS) staff are onsite to assist tenants affected by today’s fire at 113 West Mary Street, Picton.  The building is part of the housing portfolio owned and operated by the Lennox and Addington County Housing Corporation.

Based on the initial information available, fire damage is contained to one unit with some light smoke damage to a small number of other units.  One tenant is confirmed deceased as a result of the fire.

The building has been evacuated in order to allow the Fire Marshal to investigate. Displaced tenants are gathered at the Picton Salvation Army where food and beverages are being provided.
